Guide to Leaving Google Reviews
Download a PDF guide for customers to leave a Google Review.
Nothing makes your day like a great review from a happy customer. In Google My Business you can see reviews from your visitors. Customers also really appreciate a response to their reviews, so it is possible to respond to Google reviews on both the desktop version and the Google My Business app, along with real-time alerts if you want to keep a pulse on your reputation online.
Ever seen the gold star ratings that show up in search results? These appear once a business has received five reviews from customers on Google. Encouraging 5-star reviews from your customers is essential to help you stand out from your competitors as Google are now prioritising businesses in search results that have these reviews. Having Google reviews can generate more clicks from potential customers. Those golden stars can really catch your eye.
Also, the reviews your customers write are automatically shared with their friends (the people in their Google Plus “Circles”). Not only can this result in extra visibility for you in “social media,” but it is likely that some of your customers’ friends may also be interested in your business which means they become potential customers as well.
Not having reviews is not a wise option. When potential customers see your listing in Google’s local search results, they’ll only see the number of Google Plus reviews you have. So it doesn’t matter if you have 100 great reviews on other sites like TripAdvisor, if you have no Google reviews, it will appear to many potential customers as though you have no reviews at all. They’re less likely to click on you — and more likely to check out your competitors.
Worst of all, you’re more likely to be outranked by your local competitors if they have more Google reviews than you do, even if their reviews are poor ones.
Problem: how to get Google reviews easily
You know Google reviews are crucial to your local rankings and reputation. But you don’t know of an easy way to encourage customers to review you.
If you’ve ever tried explaining to customers how to create a free Google Plus account (which they need), how to find your Google Business page, and finally how to post a review, you know what a pain all this explaining can be. You find it frustrating and time-consuming. Your customers get confused. And you end up with no reviews.
Many of our clients experience this as they didn’t have clear instructions to give customers. They’d spend time walking every customer through Google’s hoops. They’d have to be patient and pretend they didn’t have other things they needed to get done.
Then maybe they would end up with a review – if they were lucky. We knew there had to be a better way.
Solution: clear instructions for your customers
Getting Google reviews doesn’t have to be hard for you. You just need a system that makes it easy for you to ask your customers, and that makes it easy for them to write you reviews.
We have made a one-page handout that you can give your customers, which…
- Shows them how to set up a Google Plus account – even if they’re not Web-savvy;
- Shows them exactly where to find your Google page; and
- Walks them through how to post a review – so that you don’t have to walk them through it every time.
All your customers need to do is follow the steps on the handout. You can print it out or email it to them. In fact, the best way to use the review handout is like a business card: something you routinely give most customers without even thinking about it.
You’ll get more Google reviews coming in—and most likely better Google Places rankings that push those reviews up and in front of more local customers.Call or Email now to discuss your project
